... interest to non-Bruges visitors, but the only travel problems we encountered was when we finally arrived back in Birmingham via London – at 5pm. Rush hour. And Rihanna has hit town. And there’s an accident on one of the major arteries in and out of the city centre.

We gratefully sink into a taxi… and we wait, and we wait. The meter is ever-increasing ...

... Another walk through residential streets not generally visited by tourists… I’m sure we always take the most meandering route anywhere we go. Eventually, the square and fountain is in sight… it is fact ‘t Zand and the large building on our left is the Concertgebouw (Concert Hall). After one step for each day of a Leap Year we’re at the top! And yes, the views over Bruges are spectacular. (Although how did ‘Ken’ wave to ‘Ray’ in ‘In Bruges’ if he was sitting at the bottom of the tower? You can only see the far side of Markt from the top! And don’t get me started ...

... the streets turn into a flea market with vendors selling various items of food, clothes and tacky items. The best part was the hostel I had stayed at had various patios in front of the hostel. That is the one thing I really enjoyed about Europe. Every city I had gone to the majority of the people would eat and/or drink on the patio. You watch the city pass you by and you gawk at the attractive ones. :) I wish Calgary had this feel but ...

... around 830 and decided to grab some dinner! It's popular for restaurants to have set prices/menus which actually end up being cheaper. So we chose a place where for 12 euros you get an appetizer, main course, and dessert. It was a nice dinner out! We sat outside too and the weather was just perfect!
