Well. It is hard to believe that 3 months of our travels
have passed already. They say that “Necessity is the mother of invention” and
certainly it has been a necessity for us to move up into the mountain areas of
Sardinia and Corsica in an effort to find cooler air. But what a bonus, as the
whilst the beaches in both these islands are stunning, the mountain areas also,
    have given us some ...

All that one legged pedalling Brett had us doing at spin classes, was finally paying off, as I tried to pedal just with my left leg, and not put any pressure on the right pedal. Then this afternoon we rode the bikes on a circuitous route up into the hills behind us, through the little villages that the 20th and 21 st centuries seem to have forgotten, and then round the back, and down into Bastia. It was an incredible uphill ride, until we saw a guy running the same route, as us, and passed us as we stopped to take photos ...

    ... umbrellas.

There are several large cities on the island, including Calvi which we visited briefly to check out the citadel, Bastia which we flew into, Ajaccio which is the capital, as well as Bonifacacio which is a long way south and Corte which is right in the centre.

We chose to stay at Algajola. Its a small resort town on the north coast with about a dozen hotels set in and amongst the old original buildings. Most of the hotels ...

... dinner. The hotel here just serves snacks. So we walked a short distance down hill to a little Italian place. Eldon had pizza, it was not good. I had the tagliatelle with ragu. My dinner was VERY good. We had our usual wine, got back to the room and got ready for bed. Eldon made arrangements for a taxi at 6:45 tomorrow morning. We have to be at the dock an hour before the 8:00 ferry ...
