Tuesday:

We've been taking it easy and have been chilling out so far. We've been into Lagos to shop and to have a look around the Old Town which has an amazing history influenced by Phoenicians; Greeks; Carthaginians; Romans and Arabians as well as Christians..
Essentially an important sea traffic centre for gold, silver; ivory and slaves. The slave market from 1444 is well preserved and is now used as an art gallery. In 1573 it became the capital of the Algarve ...

We had a lovely 5 course lunch, including pre-dinner drinks on the terrace, free endless wine on the table and coffee and liqueurs on the terrace afterwards. Superb value for money.

It certainly has been a good Christmas for us. Although last year in New Zealand was very special it was good to be in good company this year

Unfortunately, we do not recommend visiting this castle, or the town for that matter. I suppose we prefer a castle to be more in raw form rather than spit and polish restoration although it gives a good idea of what it looked like in all its glory.
