Weather: a warm morning followed by a hot afternoon, maximum 35C.

The drive North was ever changing because very soon we had left the vineyards behind and soon encountered huge fields of barley many already cut and straw baled and removed more with combine harvester parked up ready to roll.

On Saturday we visited the lovely resort of Sables d'oleronne. We enjoyed a walk along the beach and the waterfront and harbour. We enjoyed a Takeaway on the seafront. We loved looking around a small alleyway where houses are covered in shells.in the evening we had a singalong to guitar accompaniment on the campsite. Yesterday and today we had continuous rain so we were confined to barracks apart from swimming in the indoor pool and drinks in the bar this ...
