This is where the Etruscan Monterozzi Necropolis is located. The
tombs date from c700-100BC which predates the Romans, although Rome
eventually conquered the Etruscans. Much of early Roman culture was

Not far to travel this morning so a later start and an easy pace mostly downhill
towards orbetello with the odd climb thrown in for good measure. A quick stop
for coffee and onto the connecting causeway, it's a bit like a scruffy litter
strewn trip round the back of some old campsite in southport. I had expected a
