      After Trier, we headed to Cologne to see the cathedral. Cologne is a big city and we had a heck of time finding the parking and then lugging our stuff into the hotel--a little stressful :).       Over ten years in scouts taught me to Be Prepared. Thank god for that and the memory of what can and did go wrong on the way to Monaco 18 months ago. So the plan was to check out at 10.30 and taxi to airport, check in 11 am for 1 pm flight to Cologne. Get to the apartment around 3 in time for some sightseeing before dinner.       ... like Rotterdam, a lot of the city was bombed in the war. And it's where Philips the electronic company had a lot of workers and business. So there are a lot of remnants of this history.
