Bulevar Raul Leoni, Sector Bella Vista Porlamar, Margarita Island, Coastal Islands, Venezuela, 0295/261-0564
What a difference a day makes! My flight from Caracas left on time (although I didn`t realise it then), and actually landed in the right place. Getting a room was a breeze - I took a cab to a Hotel that I liked the look of, and told them how long I wanted to stay. Sorted.
Iīve been in Porlamar, Isla Margarita for a few days now, and itīs fine. This is where Venezuelans go on holiday, so the island is geared up for visitors. The Israeli tourists have all disappeared, and been replaced by G...
... particularly on the Northern coastline that are much quieter. Oddly enough the capital, La Asuncion, only serves as the municipal town from which Government works, whilst Porlamar is the commercial centre. As a result La Asuncion has only 2 high rise blocks for council workers while the rest of the town remains resolutely old style, single storey colonial buildings mostly in bright Caribbean colours and with narrow roads. There is one square that is ...
Margarita Island, Venezuela suenson_taylorsThongs ahoy! I’m in Margarita Island off the north coast of Venezuela and it seems there is a competition to wear the smallest bikinis possible… even the pregnant women are in on the action, and the men aren’t shying away as there are also speedos aplenty. Although I think that the most likely explanation for the speedos on Playa El Agua is the large number of German tourists that flock here. I should’ve realised as soon ...
Margarita Island, Venezuela vickicooperI am here in Ciudad Bolivar trying to catch up with the blog entry that I have missed over the last few days. This was just a small trip to Isla de Margarita and I never knew that there was such a place, nothing happens and everything is happening. There is so much development here but the transport to the Island is appalling, at least the one we were on ...
Magarita , Isla Margarita, Venezuela jameskanga...
El Yaque, Venezuela jhoekstra79WOW is all I have to say! Finally sick of the snow a week of fun, sun, sea and sand was just incredible! Flying out from Montreal on the 2nd of March myself, Mary (The Gordfish), Orlaith (Walt) and Phil (Pill) headed 5 hours south to the destination of La Isla Margarita, VENEZUELA! The next week was spent lazing by the pool, getting burnt on the beach and drinking endless amounts of pina colada (it was a ...
Porlamar, Venezuela kristenmcOne of my tasks at the NGO, is to look at how it can provide services to increase employment for the poor. Specifically, I am researching possibilities of creating "micro-franchises". These are sound and easily replicable business models (based on the "franchise" business model) to generate employment for the poor and to benefit consumers at bottom of the economic pyramid. Micro-franchise tries to address some of the problems inherent in the more well known micro-enterprise ...
Porlamar, Venezuela sheenasumaria... were the Caipirinhas. I think stronger stuff, I have never drunk! I had made a new friend at the bar, Svenja from Germany, but once she had to go, I was up for some jammin' - testing the Margaritan nightlife this time! So I got up from my bar chair, walked to my room and found some clothes. I had to take a quick shower because I was sweaty from the heat earlier in the day. But I was totally wasted. I looked at my bed, and thought - Hell, I'm ...
Porlamar, Coastal Islands, Venezuela thrudur... up from there seats and scuffled into the lobby with her. Karen and I were laughing the entire time. I'm probably going to hell. The next day we went to a National Park called La Rustinga. We had a tour bus take us through the deserts of the western portion of the island, past Los Tetas de Maria Guevara (a pair of hills resembling 'tetas'- use your imagination to guess what 'tetas' are) and into the swamps which make up the park. Once there we piled into a number of ...
