    ... and would have been ungrateful not to! Malta has strong Sicilian influences which is reflected in the food. I thought of you, Margaret, as I tucked into a cannoli, a Maltese speciality (tube of pastry filled with ricotta custard etc) in a shady square.     Last night was my first full nights rest since Madrid and I couldn't be more grateful. Especially since I slept through all of Milano and the twists and turns on the mountains which apparently were even scarier than last time. The guys drove all through the night and we ended up in Venezia very early in the morning! Everything worked out perfectly. We all took a family photo in front of good ol' Gertrude and we all said our goodbyes. Some of their journeys are just beginning ...
