A dazed day in Elba.
Portoferraio, Elba Portoferraio greeted us with bright sunshine and a beautiful view of the local port. Behind this stands the Porta a Mare gate, which dates back to 1637 and is shadowed by rugged mountains. The ship docked right in the town and it was immediately accessible for exploration on foot. Kareoke in Cecina
... was alot less people so had a nice swim before going to do some internet stuff to work out where we would go the next day. Decided to go back to Rome cos all the campsites were booked out and it wasnt very relaxing anyway.
After another swim to cool down, went to bed but much to our disdain, the Kareoke bar started up, which consisted of the worst singing I have ever heard (mostly kids) broadcasted through the campsite til 1145pm ...
The ocean!
Today I had the brilliant plan to drive 2 1/2hours west to Massa Marittima to see the Balestro del Girifalco, an annual medieval crossbow competition. We had to arrive early to get tickets so I planned to continue west to the ocean returning by evening for the event. We arrived before noon only to discover the festival had been changed to accommodate the upcoming holiday. Great! We went the additional 30 minutes to the ocean (Fallonica) anyway ... ...
Night Time Sympathize
... laid down to read a book that I had purchased back in Florence, The Catcher in The Rye. I read for an hour or two then made my way here to the local café to type this bad boy up. I’m debating now whether or not I want to try my luck at another night camping out here in Follonica. The other option is to book a hostel in Milan for the next few nights until I leave for Amsterdam. Most likely the next entry will be in Milan, but we will see.

Isola d'Elba, Toscana
... che con i suoi 1018 mt di granito si vede da tutta l’isola, magari salendo anche al monte Perone.Un terzo giorno faremo il giro delle “due code del pesce” cui l’isola assomiglia, da Porto Azzurro a Rio Elba e Rio Marina, dove sono presenti le strutture del parco minerario, per andare anche a Capoliveri o magari al monte Calamita (strada bianca).
