    Tuesday We arrived in Calvi on the eastern coast of Corsica, at lunchtime after a train trip south of Bastia then across the island to the opposite coast. It is a magical place, similar to Amalfi or Sorrento on the Italian coast, situated on a large bay, with lovely white sandy beaches.     The ship anchored in the bay and we went ashore on the ship's tender boats. In the morning it was reasonably calm, however getting back in the afternoon was a different story, boat rolling from side to side, a bit scary actually.     ... each had a small sampling of gazpacho, pistachio cream over cous cous, some kind of custard and a lovely serving of caviar over some other fish roe. They were all delish, as were the cold beers. Eldon's concern is what this little tray of extras is going to cost us.

    We went back to the room and rested. Around 1:30 we got out our cheese and ham from yesterday and shared a bottle of wine.
