          Hi everyone,

Wow, what a whirl wind couple of weeks! I've survived training, and am busy settling into my new home and schools!

I live a tiny little shoebox apartment, which is extremely cute and I think just the perfect size for me! I live in a district called Hazeshinmachi, which is approximately a 30 minute walk east of the Fukuchiyama train station. It is a rural town, with (MASSIVE!) ...

I have been invited by a lovely couple from Canada to come visit either city, beach or snow. Another couple from Cars Park in Sydney who have a lovely ...

Yesterday we arrived in Ine. It's a small village located in a bay where some of the houses are built partly above the water so people can store their boat in it. That kind of houses are called 'funaya'. Two hours before we arrived in Ine our host suddenly told us that we could stay for only one night instead of three! So we were in a hurry to find a place for the other nights.. The next ...

          Amanohashidate

After another early wake up call and quick breakfast, we're off to Amanohashidate (easy for Japanese to say so I'm going to call it Amano for short), which lies north of today's port. Our port is actually in Maizuru so our destination to Amano consisted of a short bus ride to the train station, and then an hour train ride to Amano. Once there, we rented a couple of bicycles and rode about 4 miles out on the beautiful sand spit that is covered with ...
