... Rhodes. The island of Rhodes (Rhodes city is on the northernmost tip) is at the crossroads between Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and because of its position in major sea routes, is rich in history. It has four harbours! - and has been inhabited since 4000BC.
The taxi driver told me that most of the tourist places on the island were closed from the end of the September till next May, and indeed they were - he pointed out all the buildings in ...

Koycegiz is a small village/town set on a lake - on the west coast of Turkey, inland from the Aegean Sea, famed for it's bird-watching and thermal baths.
I took a day-long boat tour the next morning (I unusually woke early, but that was more of a direct result of the ...
I was really overdue my holidays, finally getting to take it in October and I just signed up to two weeks of not doing much in Turkey with a couple of friends in a group. For me though not doing much isn't my cup of tea so I took every chance to re-live my old Turkey memories, from food, sights, sea, dancing and ahem, yes the men, again :)
Please come back soon as I update all the stories from the two weeks. Thanks.
Another beautiful day. Sunny 78 degrees on the island of Rhodes. We travel to Lindos half way down the island. To see the Acropolis were Paul spoke to the Greeks. A long climb to the top with a view to forever. Just outstanding. Back to the boat early to catch some sun by the pool.
I am going to upload a couple of pics from yesterday on Myconos to give you an idea of the beauty here.

... recommened a place from a local, which turned out to be ok. Honestly, we've had better Mousakka in San Francisco, but the Greek Salad is pretty amazing. Who knew Cucumbers, tomatos, feta and olive oil could taste so good? We've tried to make our own using exactly the same ingredients, but somehow they manage to do it better.
Now we're off to the one-and-only Santorini!
... our day over it was time to catch our ferry to Athens. On our budget we chose the cheapest ticket available. Which means "Deck." But unfortunately for us what we didn't realise was that this means it is the only place on board were you can smoke. So the rest of the night with the lights on and us trying to get a nights sleep on our hard plastic benches, we breathed in the refreshing air of smoke. Shona has now got a smokers cough.
This is going to be a tough couple of days.
... both of them lived on their sailboats. Lucky for us, Jeff's parents had kept touch with the two of them as they continued their sailing trip around the world which they are now seven years into. We could tell right away that we would like them. And how could we not? They took us on their beautiful fourty five foot cutter rigged yacht. Cruised around the coast with us. Shared their meals. Let us borrow their snorkeling equipment. And in ...

We stopped again at five, at a similar place. Michelle got up and packed her bags. I pulled the cover over my face. Eventually I got up at six-thirty. I bought an espresso from below decks and watched the sun rise over Turkey. Soon we were cruising the narrow strait between Western Anatolia and Rhodes. I had no idea of Rhodes. No map, no information, nothing. I looked through a window at a souvenir ...
