Prechod z Guatemaly do Hondurasu byl zatim jeden z nejprijemnejsich.

Nestled in the hills near the border with Guatemala, Copan, Honduras is incredibly scenic, and thousands of years ago was one of the most important sites of the Mayan civilization.

On our first morning in Copan we met up with Hayley, an English girl whom we met in Utila, and other young people from our hostel who were …

Parrots At The Ruins

Seemingly custom built for tourists the town of Copan Ruinas just a kilometre away from the famous Copan Ruins. Is a tiny little tourist stop decked out to look like an old hillside colonial town. Whilst you're aware its largely all for show, somehow that doesn't really seem to detract from the charm of the place. The locals are friendly and …

After an early morning walk, once again in search of a computer that will take a memory card, but had no luck. It was still fairly cool out so after about an hour and a half of walking I returned to the hotel to roust Tom. We walked around and ate some breakfast at Casa Gabriella, which consisted of eggs, bacon, cheese, tortillas, beans and a …

Up early to get to the bus station for the 11:00 bus to Copan. It costs 140 LP each, which is about $7. While waiting for the bus to leave, Tom went to find a bathroom and some guy comes up and starts grabbing our bags, I followed him and he put them on the right bus but later expected a tip. <note to self: learn to say ¨we don´t need your help …

    Great Hotel

The hotel has lots of hammocks, good views of the town, and a convenient and safe location. It's a good value, too.

We stayed here two nights. The hotel has a small pool, we felt very safe and the staff was great. While we visited the ruins we were able to get our laundry done. Would recommend it to anyone.

A bit loud but a good buy

For the price of 250 Lempiras (beginning of Dec 2012, = 10 € or 12 $) it is really good: clean and well equipped rooms (we had a double with one big bed, TV and private bathroom), they give you fresh towels and there is a (very shallow, little) pool an quite nice hammock area at the roof.
They offer even breakfast, but you can get a better and cheaper one in one of the restaurants downtown.
At the time we were there, it was quite loud in the early mornings because of traffic (maybe it will be better as soon the road work at the main brigde of Copán is finished) because everybody was using this street as a short cut because of the road work.
They give you a lift to the riuns in the morning if you want (what is not really necessary because you maby walk just 15 min) and they also offer horse riding trips or tours to the hot springs and a coffee farm - bargain!
