... berthed almost opposite at 7am, and later that day we were up on the roof to be met by an amazing coincidence- the huge P & O Aurora, which we were on for 55 days in March, sailed by the hotel at rooftop level, and we were able to photograph it passing our new ship Le Lyrial, and of course dwarfing it completely.

... on San Giorgio. One is a Japanese tea house sitting in a shallow pool lined with blue glass tiles. I also checked out the Finnish glass art retrospective. Next stop was the Peggy Guggenheim museum to see the modern art collection and check out the villa which sits on the Grand Canal. ... someone when you would like to kill one another from being tired of walking for so long, sore, and hungry. Then you quickly return to loving one another after sitting down for five minutes. It was like the Snicker commercials. Here have a snicker, because you aren't really yourself when your hungry. Yup, that was us, little grizzlies. ... didn’t have to battle the massive queues.

One of the small touches that made a huge difference was the priority service in the elevators. If we swiped our Yacht Club cards, the elevators skipped all other floors and went directly where we wanted to go (great for us, but no doubt aggravating for the rest of the seething masses who we came to call the ‘plebs’, 'heathens' or 'philistines').

... so on. The main was grilled salmon with carrots and squash. Laura had steak served on a bed of rockets with a salad. Warm crusty bread was served alongside this. We had a very nice time and were glad we had decided to have one splurge while we were here.
