(Heel veel) heilige koeien aan de Ganges Als de zon net opkomt, om half zes, staan we op om de bus te pakken van Nepal naar India. De bus rijdt niet helemaal tot de grens, het laatste stuk stappen we in een afgeladen minibusje. Maar helaas brengt ook het minibusje ons niet naar de grens, bij een wegversperring moet iedereen de bus uit en lopen we …

... the sun beating down on me. A driver was on hand to pick me up and take me to my hotel Padma which has a 360 degree view of the mountains from its restuarnt. At 3500 meter high I was waiting for the altitude to hit me like it did in Tibet but I have had no problems so far. After having around 3 hours sleep on the plane I managed to crash to sleep for a few hours before I woke up and explored Leh.

Leh is only a small place on 28,000 people and its very relaxed. ...

... A understands about 40%, K and G zero. Monk intersperses commentary with little giggles and seems to be having a wonderful time. Since he lives alone on the top of a mountain in a spooky ruin with a Buddah he claims to have seen cry and heard talking to the wall hangings, any company should be good. ... the peaceful nature of the local Buddhist population and their quiet cohabitation with the Muslim and Hindu which also inhabit the region.
Our first few days were spent acclimatizing to the effects of the high altitude.
