... TravelPod" is a complete pain in the a@$ to use. For our 2010 "Radical Sabbatical" trip to Asia, I'm switching to another web service.
But, I've promised myself that I'll update this blog before we leave Naples...
Ola Kala: simply, OK (in Greek). No time for lots of flap.....we're on the go. The Vatican Museums await us (and we can hardly wait to do more walking!). Enjoy the pictures and we'll fill you in on the adventure next time I make the time to sit and gab.
We're still having a grand time!!!!!
we woke up refreshed today and enjoyed a free breakfast at the hotel. Our excursion to Capri started off relatively early at 8:45am. We hopped on a ferry that took us across to Capri, then got on another boat that toured us around the island giving us an overview and some history behind the island. it's so pretty!!! after the boat tour we got about 4 hours of free time to do as we please. many people were stoked about finally getting to go to a ...
Capri, Campania, Italy bethybags... their safety couldn't be guaranteed and, towards the end of the war, with the Germans on one side of the island and the Allies approaching the other, it was thought best to get them out of there and to meet the allied lines. A woman on the tour, a historian, has documented much of this - from diaries and various documents. There is also an Italian scholar, whom we know, who recently uncovered the role played in the rescue by ...
Capri, Italy jchiarie... around and letting yourself get hopelessly lost is the best way to learn the city. My shoes and jeans are already getting pretty worn down, but I can see now why Italian women can stay so skinny without ever working out! My classes take a lot of field trips around Rome, I went and saw the Roman Forum, the Arch of Constantine, a lot of churches, and some really cool medieval excavation sites. I have been ...
Capri, Italy erineddy... go there later on my own if I wanted to, but our tour would not go there. Basically, the Blue Grotto is in a cavern that can only be reached by boat. Once you reach the grotto, you are transferred into a rowboat. The rowboat then goes over to the entrance, where everyone has to lay down in the boat so that you can enter the grotto. Once inside it's supposed to be an amazing view of sapphire blue water unlike anything in the world. The water actually ...
Capri, Campania, Italy travelocity11... The kindness of the Italian people helped us all night long. We decided to try another way of getting back to Hotel Grillo Verde. There was another stop from Naples that was called Torre Annunziata. We were sure that it would take us near Hotel Grillo Verde. We started walking and realized that we were no where near the hotel. Then we realized that we didn't know how to get back to the train station. It was getting late and Cory was tired, wet and ...
