So up with the dawn chorus or so it felt. We had to catch a bus from the nearby town of Strobl to go into Salzburg and it took almost an hour it could have been longer but Mr T(aka Roy Cropper) kept us and the bus driver on track. Salzburg is beautiful the buildings are vet symmetrical and the architecture of and inside the churches and cathedrals is amazing. Even the kids are impressed. Charlotte has taken to being a photographer some her pictures are fantastic ...

In stark contrast to the fineries and liveries of the first rooms, the grand staircase on the other side of the building was completely unfinished with bare brick walls giving an indication of how the place was built. Stopped briefly at St Bartholomew church on the way back. It's pretty average on the inside but the reason it's so popular is for its outside beauty when you get the reflections of this in the water with the alps behind! *sigh*

... drizzling day in the mountains. I should mention here that on the way to our hostel in the rain, Jas had to carry both my backpack and his own as my ankle has gotten worse (more on that in a bit), for which I am forever grateful! Luckily it was a short walk! We took it easy for the rest of the day, wandering to a bakery for some food and perusing the grounds of Mirabel Palace nearby. The 900-year-old Hohensalzburg Fortress on top of the mountain nearby provided ...
