Sound of Music: When I last left you, I was heading out to the Sound of Music bus excursion. Smaltzy, but I loved it. 50 years ago, in 1965, the movie was made here in Salzburg (and indoor scenes inside in a Hollywood studio). We went to all the sites of major parts of the film, saw many familiar buildings and recognizable sites, and learned about fact and fiction regarding the Von Trapps. Our guide was an Austrian from Salzburg, who had lived in Boston for 10 years some years ...
... the end of that boat ride. It was so. And it was lovely. Reminded me of when I was in Bangkok a number of years ago, and was also staying at a much more lowly hotel accommodation, and found it a must to eat at the Oriental Hotel now and then! Not that mine now is quite in the same category, yet it is not Hotel Sacher. I had to take pictures - it was magnificent. Fancy suited me, I thought! Hahaha! More later... off to see how alive those hills really ...
This entry is coming one day late because somehow my post from yesterday got lost in the virtual world - not sure if I am in love with travelpod so far, but I suppose it will do. :) So, yesterday! What an awesome day!!!! Carole and I got to teach the students at KuMax and Waria Ward about our schools in Cleveland, and about what it is like to live in Tennessee. Some classes even got up and danced a line dance to Rocky Top Tennessee!! We gave out 60 t-shirts from Walker Valley ...
... bells are still ringing! Later on, the family escapes over it but the other half is in Germany! Switzerland is over 500km away!

- All the interior scenes were filmed in Hollywood as they weren't allowed to film in the buildings.
- The glasshouse was left by Hollywood after the film but the owners of the property ...
... turned the GPS on....she started saying "bad connection", but then "satisfactory", then "good, 8 satellites found". We're back in track
Over lunch, Sandy did some quick research and on arrival we bought 2 Salzburg Tourist cards that gave us a river cruise, access to the funicular to the castle and access to a museum. All were good
