Saturday morning there was time for a leisurely breakfast at our hotel in Istanbul, The dining room on the 8th Floor at the Imperial Business Hotel offered many choices for breakfast! There was even an omelette man cooking omelettes just the way you wanted and when cooked he would flip the omelette onto your plate and I never saw one that went anywhere else except onto the plate it was headed for.
Mid-morning our coach drove us to ...
... eating olives for breakfast, so I avoided that one. We enjoy a nice long hour breakfast just sitting back and hoping we might catch Tim during breakfast. We decide we can’t eat any more food or drink any more coffee so we head back up to our room and along the way see Tim coming down the elevator. We decide to meet him after breakfast to go for a little walk and will organise our day then.
We shower and clean up and meet Tim back downstairs 20minutes later and head out ...
And on to the mainland of Greece – Athens. A fast ferry from Santorini and I was there in about 4 hours. Then it was the metro to the center (if The Acropolis is the center) and a short walk to my hostel. All very easy.
Missed the demonstrations – they were the night before I arrived, but guess if I stay long enough I may witness a demonstration or two. Quite normal for Greece it seems. But apart from the fires on the outskirts of ...

It was stuffy and warm at the airport so we went up to the smokers deck to get a bit of fresh air and a seat as it is also very small there for an airport with a lot of traffic and no seats left downstairs in the departure area. Vern said the toilets there are disgusting and when you consider the amount of dollars coming through there - they should really upgrade ...

Today we woke up in Greece! After 2 days at sea I was itching to get off the boat and start seeing history. Although it seems that 7 days on a boat with trouble sleeping has made me catch a slight cold. :-( However, the many years reading "Perseus Jackson and the Olympian Gods" to my 5th grade students has made me a HUGE Greek mythology fan and I wasn't going to let anything stop ...
