Have been here in BA for 4 nights and absolutely loving it!! Such a lovely city, quite European and cosmopoliton. We´ve seen all the sights and been to the famous Cemetry where Eva Peron is buried...very surreal place like a small town itself. Went to see a live Tango show which was very impressive and have been out partying well! Jo & I met up with some friends we met in Rio and got home this morning at 8am! Shocking thing though is that it was a drag show and had breakdancers too! Compl...
Buenos Aires, Argentina sheilajortwAlarm went off at 730 (christ) so I was up to let M in to pick up her things at 800. She´s got things to do today and tonight and I´m in Colonia tomorrow so this was it. She´s not great at goodbyes but I did like her line "I´ll see you for drinks tonight, you me and Laura" (Laura went back to the UK a couple days ago). It was sad, because we´ve had great fun just hanging out and I´ve had some great conversations with her and I really think i have made a good friend but this is the reality of ...

... so we walked along the river and watched a football game in the park, we walked through the city and saw a really cool street artist who had a 'singing and dancing' puppet. He was very funny so we watched him for ages. He had Elvis and Bing Crosby. We also went to the beach area which was really nice and we watched a girl's football game here. They are really talented ...
Rosario, Argentina edandali... cafe here in the city-- about 5 blocks from school. Keep in mind, it was about 90 degrees Fahrenheit. As I was walking down the sidewalk, I got hit on the head by a block of ice. Not an ice cube, but an odd, misshapen block of ice. And there was no explanation. All in all, it was weird. 5.This is the weirdest one-- and for those of you with a sensitive stomach, I suggest you stop reading here. Sammie and I were walking through ...
Rosario, Litoral, Argentina mlbierle... the walls, and one of a bicycle graffiti´ed on the wall. These ¨bicycles¨ are everywhere, and I learned about them in class today. Apparently people paint them on the walls to commemorate one of the ¨disappeared,¨ as they call the 30,000 people who were taken and killed by the government about 30 years ago. So, as you can imagine, there´s a lot of these bikes all over the place. And now I´m sad every time I see ...
Rosario, Argentina mlbierle... Generally speaking, there is no other hot water anywhere to be found. Usually there is some kind of communial room, be it the patio for eating, drinking and barbque, the "T.V" room, or whatever. But planning excursions and finding dining partners is best done in the hostel community room, or patio. Other places to sleep are: residencials, hospedaje, pension, and others. Sometimes you can stay in the owner´s house, and ...
Rosario, Argentina jathomaz... for the Amazon basin. They were so hungry that they tried to bite the bun of my hamburger, while it was sitting on the table. In Rosario the also have the national flag monument, which is a huge stone tower with statues and an eternal flame in a secondary structure. It's pretty cool monument-wise.
Rosario, Argentina bgibson... big annual festival, the Festival Nacional de Doma y Folklore. The Saturday that I went was actually the second to last day of the 10 day festival. There were lots of food and drink booths set up, along with stalls at which to do some shopping. The main event was held in a big stadium. There were also lots of cars and tents around, as it seems many locals drive there and camp overnight. So after getting back from the Jesuit mission, we bought tickets for ...
Rosario, Argentina alexp02... every light in the hostel remained on for the entire night and given that our room had lovely big french doors (ie lots of glass) it was like sleeping under a street light. The hostel also had free internet which was conveniently located outside our room - I was surprised to learn how many people like to use the internet after arriving home at some ungodly hour from a night out! After a very restless ...
Rosario, Argentina wendyjane... decided against and headed back to bed. Interesting.. didnt seem to be any tourist around for a sat night.... oh well.. knew I could hold out for Buenos Aires baby anyway! 6th: Rain, rain and more rain.. more like UK autumn weather man! not motivated to go outdoors, just chilled in the sociable hostel confines and read books etc until had to leave on coach at lunchtime. could have seen a little bit more of Bariloche but hey.
