Hotel Majapahit is the best hotel I've stayed ever. It's value for money. They have excellent restaurants which serve local, Chinese and Indian food. Hotel is huge with lush green gardens and excellent spa. The staff were too good that they helped me throw a surprise birthday party for my friend upon request.

Finally a cab driver who spoke English said Too-jeh-gun. I quickly hopped in his cab. The mall was like many other large malls but they did have a good food court with many stalls serving food that was unknown to me. I ate one of those unknown things and it was ...

As well as the Orangutans we were fortunate enough to see a Gibbon, the way they move is amazing. They can swing through the trees with amazing accuracy, and are really fascinating to watch. There were a few squirrels making the most of the bananas too, as well as lots of really beautiful butterflies. We also saw a few Stork Kingfishers, ...

Long ago the emperor would determine the start of the New Year. Today's celebration is based on Emperor Han Wu Di’s almanac. It uses the first day of the first month of ...

I offered him a smile, a sympathetic nod and a few choice words in my native language which I hoped he did not understand as I coughed up my payment for the trip so he could have money to buy fuel. We walked the moped a few minutes back down the road to a service station where the driver purchased some fuel and we continued our trip to the train station. As I thanked the driver, I thought it would be in my best interest to have ...

    I love Indonesia, but...

... I have yet to see a paper towel in this country. Sometimes the restaurants have (very) small napkins at the table, but these are only good for about one finger each. There's usually a sink somewhere near by for you to wash your hands at, so if you want to do anything other than eat, you need to get up to wash your hands. And this culture is based around eating with your hands. I just don't get it.

    I understand that ...
