We were up early to go to church - we went to the Notre Dame Cathedral at 8am - before the heat & all the other tourists.
An amazing building with a vast interior.
After returning to the hotel for breakfast we ventured to the L'ill River and a canal tour. This took us through two old locks and a lot of historical places / buildings of …

We had fresh orange juice, fruit, breads, cheeses and bacon and eggs. Packed the car after breakfast and went for a walk through the of town. Cars are not allowed in the old city. Strolled around for an hour of so and finally left Rhien Falls around 12.00 after a quick detour to the ...

The striking part of that is, as ever, we wonder how any assistant in Newcastle would be able to react if someone came in speaking French?
All very pleasant and we returned on the train for tea in Obernai.

We are now definitely on the final part of the trip with our German visits and the imminent return to the UK which Liz is keen on, myself, less so.
