    ... only had been sold. Why not! Arrived early to ensure we had a "good" space. There were leaning bars which helped define your space, and also enabled you to defend your space. Our neighbours were a couple from the US, and whilst waiting for the performance, we became best buddies.

    Yep....I have the flu/chest infection ! Feel ****. Brian is starting to get over his bout and now it's my turn. We arrived in Vienna today and went on a city tour and a tour of the Lippizaner horse school. Whilst it was very interesting to hear the history of the horses, we were very disappointed we didn't get to see the horses in the ring going through their training schedule.     ... Palace, the summer palace of the Habsburgs and did the grand tour of the apartments, which were mainly from Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth. The grounds are magnificent, particularly the Neptune Fountain and Gloriette, though there was a temporary gazebo erected in front of the fountain on the day I visited, which spoiled my photo :(.

    ... including a mother and spoiled 7 year old child who were seated next to us. There may have been tears involved, and not from us). The waitresses wore 1920s style black uniforms with white aprons, and we were seated next to a window that looked out onto the grandiose Viennese State Opera house. We both ordered Sacher torte (What else?!) and gleefully posed for photos before diving in. What can I say? Pure, unadulterated, chocolate heaven. A bit pricey, but ...

    ... with more shopping. That night we went for dinner at a restaurant recommended by our hotel. I had the spicey meatballs with potatoes and Mom had schnitzel again. We then went on our mission across town to a café that we had seen earlier for dessert. I had Kaiserschmarren ( a giant plate of shredded pancaked with plum compote) and Mom had the apple strudel. Needless to say I didn't finish mine, but it made for a nice breakfast n the train the next morning.
