... on the tar road, an enormous Kings College of Engineering building (one of a surprising number of Engineering Colleges we see), weathered temples, a town with streets full of marigold garlands, and now-dry rice paddy country.

We pass huts by the road with women cooking something in a pot. It takes a while for the driver to understand what we are asking about, and he eventually stops at a less-interesting stand, but it has a fire and pot, and a man ...

... pouring water over people. What would happen if they slipped?

We did some sightseeing in Rameshwaram. Probably the only thing to mention was the hill top 360 degree view, which was spectacular.

On the way back to Madurai we thought we'd give our bottoms a rest and travel in a small coach (again this was much cheaper than a taxi). We met a very strange man on the coach called Gopal. He hasn't stopped calling us since we left him....

... a lot of water lilies and fishes in it. Whoa, cold and sweet. Then on and on we were bathed by the warm, cold, mostly sweet, fresh water from the 21 wells inside. I between the wells, we took Darshan of many deities in different parts of the temple. And of course, we walked the length of the well known longest corridor.

One amazing fact. Most of the wells may have about three to four feet of water. Our guide said that about ...
