... we’d heard that morning – our destination marina in the Philippines – Davao Oceanview marina – had been attacked by terrorists the night before, and four people taken hostage including two Canadian yachtsmen, the marina yard manager and a Filipino lady who was the wife of one of the Canadians.

We finished our visit and then went to the Men’s prison to see Jong Pilapil. They were more strict on entry and visitation. I had to give my phone/camera up before going in. Jong has helped the prison and works in an office inside the prison, doing the count and scheduling. Everyone, guards and prisoners know and trust him. Many ask his help in presenting their appeals and he has had a calming effect on the prison itself, ...
