We hopped on after a while, and passed by Captain Island, Turtle Island and a couple of other islets, in search of Vanishing Island....

I definitely anticipate a brilliant question from all the brilliant minds.. how do you search for a vanishing island... hehe.. of-course, when it is visible.. ;-).... and a large wooden pole to mark the place helped us too....

... of our volunteers have been helping with packing relief goods onto trucks to send to Iligan, one of the affected areas, but they can't go themselves because it is not safe for them in that area, due to political and religious tensions. It has been raining a bit here, but that is all, thank goodness. Very bad in the north though, they are saying that the count has now reached 1000 ...

The name of the dormant volcano means "burnt out", in the Bla-an dialect. ... night there was a typhoon (the first or second ever to hit Davao - usually they happen in Manila) that passed through the western suburbs (we are on the north side) and then was followed by torrential rain. The whole course of the Davao river changed and some houses are now under 10 meters of water. More rain is predicted for tomorrow and we were discussing about the need to organise our own civil defense kits - which we have not done yet (still!)
