... Italian politics and way of life, we walked the little town and looked in some shops. We drove back to the house and checked out "The Olive Garden" or olive groves on the Turano property. The youngest tree was planted in 1905 and the rest are between 300-400 years old! The rental car company in Rome claimed we "canceled the reservation" (which in Italian translates to "there was a taxi strike so we are saving the van to make some extra cash"). Apparently, my dad let them have it! We split up into two cars and my dad, Joe, Amanda, and I went with ...

There are three national parks heading south towards the toe of Italy and we can only find one campsite between them all. We took the scenic road through the mountains hoping that we might stumble on one but with no luck. For as far as the eye can see, there are forest clad rolling hills with the occasional village perched on a rocky promontory.
