    ... a 10 am we talked to a cabbie and he wanted 80 euro to take us.. Passing that up we walked and found a bus for 20 euro round trip..they weren’t exactly organized, another crazy time but they finally got us on the bus and brought us to near the ancient city and ruins.

    This square had the San Marco Basilica, which was absolutely stunning! It was a massive church. Even looking at the outside was magnificent, but it was nothing compared to how it looked inside! We weren't allowed to take pictures inside, but we did sneak a couple of them (just don't tell anyone!) It was a very open church, with massive dome ceilings and giant stone pillars.     ... a quick ride to another island. The traghetti was cheap, fun and got us to Santa Maria della Salute very quickly. It was built in 1630, and dedicated to the Virgin Mary by the survivors of the deadly 1630 plague. It was a domed church with a handful of art pieces to look at, mainly of Mary.     ... t wait to hang in my room.

    In the short 3 days we had here, we made the most of it. Mum experienced Italian food for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed the wine. We discovered streets I had never seen before, so that was cool.

    Its hard to describe how special it was being able to show mum around one of my favourite places in Europe. We now get to share the memories and beauty that this place has brought to us.
