... smoke until our next shower.

In our 4 months of traveling over the last year, this was the first time we took a train ride in a real sleeper cabin. It was a tiny room (6’L x 6’W x maybe 8’ H) with two triple bunk beds. We had the middle two bunks on each side. Two other men had the bunks below us and no one was on the very top. It was cool because the cabin provides us all sheets, pillows with pillow ...
Bar, Serbia and Montenegro mdaa... its odd that that Ulcinj hasn't marketed its ugly side—its history of piracy and violence. Other places have had huge success at marketing their sordid pasts, like Salem, Massachusetts, the gore tours of London, and the Dracula's castle in Romania, etc. Even the name, Ulcinj, is a PERFECT for creating the ambiance if piracy. Yet everything online about this city is trying to white wash its past and trying to ...
Ulcinj, Serbia and Montenegro mylifesjourney... to Bar, and our cheery bus driver stopped off on the way to buy some sweets which he then proceeded to share out with the passengers. An hour's bus journey along Monetenegro's dramatic coastal road dropped us off at Budva, a beach resort favoured by the Russians. The town has a population of 15,000 who appeared very affluent judging by the number of Budva-registered Porsches, Mercedes, and BMWs on the road. A quick google ...
Bar, Montenegro jiewu... didn't want seeing him cry and urged me on as the Serbian flight attendant waved me to hurry. The gate was closed up and I had to run with my carry on to board the plane. One last time I turned briefly to see Darko; he tried hiding the tears swelling in his eyes as I. I took my seat on the JAT flight back home to America. Upon reaching JFK my luggage was lost and it was delivered over the weekend to my home in Bloomingdale New Jersey. This is what it's like to chill with the most ruthless men in the world. No biggie really. THE END http://members.fortunecity.com/lpca1/lp c.htm
Serbia and Montenegro, Serbia lpcyu... about how awesome Montenegrin beer is was drowned out by a sudden burst of honking from up the street. Then about a dozen cars raced past, Serbian flags and banners hung from every window and angry Serbs leaning screaming something about Kosovo and waving yet more Serbian flags. "Serbs" Alen muttered knowingly "They do it to show their strength." (I would find out a few days later that Montenegro had recognised Kosovo's ...
Podgorica, Montenegro englishanddrunk... us off in a town called Niksic, which is about 2-3 hours south of Durmitor N.P. We had hoped to get to the NP by that night, but by the time we arrived in Niksic, we learned there was no more buses out to the park that day, and we would have to spend the night in Niksic. Dissapointed, but looking forward to an early evening and relaxing for a night, we started looking for information on the town we were stuck in and for a place to spend the night. To ...
Kotor, Serbia and Montenegro trg7... in the 33°C heat and humidity no less - for nothing. My entire morning blown on a wild goose chase, I then had to figure out how I was going to manage cramming in what I had planned for the day. I'd already done the day's sweating, but there wasn't much left for me to see and do in Budva. So, what the hell? Go ahead and continue as intended. I managed to get to the bus station about five minutes before a bus was leaving for Sveti Stefan, which was impeccable ...
Bar, Serbia and Montenegro xerius... The ruined town had an incredible location, overlooking the modern town and the Adriatic Sea, backed by the Rumija Mountains. We spent about an hour and a half wandering through the ruins, as I tried to imagine what happened in the town when it was destroyed. It certainly was a peaceful place today; with the sun shining and barely a soul about except a group of old men chatting and what appeared to be two young gypsies smoking in one of the shelled buildings. The view was stunning ...
Bar, Montenegro will... we drew blank, unknowing stares when we asked for Internet or pantomimed the motions of typing at a keyboard. Internet is a nonentity in this hip little resort, even though we've found it almost everywhere else in the world, from Cambodia to Bolivia to Tanzania. The next morning, after a not such a night's good sleep, we vacated Budva and headed up to its now landlocked neighbor, Serbia. But, in closing, it is worth mentioning that we think Montenegro waltzed out of that union ...
Budva, Serbia and Montenegro stevecori... the road climbed wearyingly up to the pass that formed the border with Montenegro. At the border checkpoint, a port-a-loo was neglected enough that it was actually growing mushrooms. I decided that I could wait. We rolled down from the pass, into a Montenegrin beach resort town that had therapeutic, radioactive mud on the beach. We stopped for a breather, and tried to find a bank machine to get some Serbian Dinars, but ...
