      Nice place to stay

This hotel is ideally located in central Lucerne and the staff have been very helpful. Our room is very clean and the shower is lovely. This room is satisfactory for our use over two nights, although it is a little smaller than we are use to.
The television has no English speaking stations and we have been advised this is due to the electronics changing to digital. That aside - we had a good time at the hotel and they gave us a nice farewell with the staff standing outside in a line, a Swiss flag, ringing a cowbell and waving a farewell. A very nice touch. Another nice touch from the receptionist at the Hotel on leaving was an offer to exchange all our Swiss coin at no commission and this was really appreciated. When one leaves Switzerland, any coin is not transferable elsewhere. Our amount equated to 29 Euro.

      Day 11 - Lucerne

      Hi
At last a little sleep-in. We decided not to go on the optional lake cruise, as we had been on a previous tour so were free until 9.45am. When finally up, the breakfast was very basic compared to our earlier ones, but this is to be expected in this part of Europe. We also had arranged for our laundry to be done for 20 Euro's.

      Greetings

We were up early at 5.45am so we could get to the river Rhine and our first activity, which was a River Cruise. We started our travel from Amsterdam and were driven onto the autobahn through Holland into Germany. The land was very flat and mostly agricultural and the houses appeared of a high standard and expensive. There was …

Not far from Lucerne is the Alps resort area of Mount Titlas. We had a great day here, climbing by chair lift and cable car to over 10,000', making us higher than Mount Kosciusko. The cable car had a revolving floor and the resort at the top had Cliff Walks, Ice Caves and Glacier walks. Unfortunately we didn't see the best of these as the weather …

We hit the road, headed south, through Austria and Lichtenstein to get to our next stop: Lucerne Switzerland. We're quickly learning the rules of the road, what the street signs mean and when to make a pit stop. The "break-in" period for the new BMW is currently "broken in" with the infamous sign on the autobahn that says to the drivers, "no speed limit" meant John went as fast as ...
