    ... juice (really expensive) and dried fish that you could try. There were some nice views as well. We then set off again and cycled through to Hakatajima. Here we had a lunch and, more importantly, ice cream stop. This island is famous for their salted ice cream which I had to try. It was really good. Not that salty, just subtle, but delicious.     ... shrine) which has a long history of Shinto and Buddhist worship together. It also had hundreds of steps to get to the top.

    We ended the day with a walk into Dogo Park, which has some ruins of Yuzuki Castle, but is basically a lovely park with flowery bushes and shady trees, an old moat which is covered in water lilies and full of carp and turtles.

    The old railway station is now the tram terminus and we enjoyed a pleasant trip back to our hotel.

WE ATE: - lunch at a really traditional Noodle bar where they cooked in clay pots and grabbed the noodles by hand out of the pot. -Botchan dangl sweets (3 different coloured balls of goo on a stick).     WE DID: - Train from Hiroshima - Okayama - Matsuyama. - Bike ride (free hotel bikes) around Shiroyama Park - at the base of Matsuyama-jo. - pottered through the Okaido shopping district, visiting the amusement area (quick go at Super Mario Cart!)
