Travel Blogs from Capri
Today was all about exploring the beautiful island of Capri. We walked from our hotel overlooking Marina Piccola up to the Piazzetta (small town square), located above Marina Grande. The views everywhere on this magnificent island are just incredible.
From there we mini bused it up this tiny narrow road at break neck speed to Ana Capri. This is …
It was a really early start today as we had to be on the coach and out of Rome for the drive south through Naples and on to Pompeii.
Going to Pompeii has been one of our 'must do's' and it didn't disappoint. It is an incredible place, frozen in time when Mount Vesuvius unleashed all it's fury in 79AD. It is a complete snap shot of what life was …
I do not have anything I want to say about Naples. We walked over to the oldest part of Naples, as this is one of the main tourist places and not to be missed, apparently, and it was disgusting, loud, and full of mafia looking people and black as night Africans, that get up in your business. Get me out of ...
After yesterday's dramas and combined with the alcohol consumption, both of us didn't sleep that well but we must put that behind us for the sake of this trip otherwise we might as well go home!! Enjoyed our first breakfast in Sorrento overlooking the beautiful coastline and with Mt Vesuvius in the background. With advice from our wonderful hotel owner he helped us organise our next few days in Sorrento. Plans for today is to visit Mt Vesuvius and Pompeii. Before we take ...
We woke up late to a text that had been delivered at 1am from Paolo. It was 9 am and the message read " Alberto is picking you up at 9am to bring you to Sorrento and spend the day with Andrea." I was ready in 10 minutes, no shower or coffee. Thank goodness I brought a change of clothes. We didn't arrive back to the hotel until 1:45am this morning! (so I apologize for the length of this entry)
We had no idea what was ...

Loved this hotel and it's stunning location. Had an ocean view room that was breath taking. The hotel gave us impeccable service which included fresh towels throughout the day, a daily turn down and wonderful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Great hotel.

Historical Traveler Reviews Hotel Luna Capri
Everything about Hotel Luna was fantastic. It was exactly the vacation we (2 couples) wanted - hot, relaxing, great food and wine, a resort type hotel, laying poolside, and a lot of swimming in the sea. We stayed here for 8 days before heading over to Sorrento/Positano for another week. We missed it so much that we came back for a night and two days, paying for a room in both places. We were going to stay at the Quisisana, but after a lot of reseach decided on the Luna and I'm thankful we did (the Quisisana is stuffy and pretentious and the Luna is just down to earth). Our room was really comfortable and clean with a big balcony and amazing views. The pool was perfect, clean and completely relaxing. The staff was so nice, especially everyone at the pool (Marcello was great!), the food by the pool was equally as good as all the food we tried on the island - and we did eat a lot of pasta. A very nice aspect of the Luna is its proximity to town, but at the same time you are far enough away from all the noise (5 minutes) that you really feel you are in your own resort. The walk to town is so beautiful. I highly highly recommend renting a boat with driver the first day to see the whole island, then rent your own boat one day and go to all the places you liked to swim and hang out. Pull up your boat to Nettune, near Anacapri and a man comes out picks you up in his boat and brings you to the restaurant right on the cliff, where Lino, an amazing chef will serve you a fantastic meal and wine while you look out at the mediterranean. We did everything you could do on this island and absolutely fell in love with it and the Hotel Luna. Feel free to email if you have questions or want suggestions. We travel a lot and this was one of our top vacations. My only small complaint about the Luna was the thin walls - you could here people opening and closing their closets and doors. Everything else was A++++
We had the great pleasure of staying at this hotel for 3 nights in September. What a great place! I had stayed there 7 years ago and was pleased that it was better than I remembered. Rooms are adequately but not lavishly decorated--very pleasant, very clean, and with a nice balcony. The pool was the best part--nice and cool after the hot hours in the sun; service and lunch by the pool also excellent. Dinner in the hotel was fine, but not great. The position is perfect in that it's just a 10 minute walk from the center. I would highly recommend this hotel and would gladly return there any time.
The Hotel Luna is great. My husband and I stayed there for 3 nights in August during the heat stroke. The rooms were very nice and had great balconies. The pool was great , very big and well maintained with great food by the pool. It was a very short (very very short) walk to the center but this is what made the hotel so great the walk was so pleasent it was filled with vines of flowers and beautiful views. We did a lot of research until we decided on this hotel and were very hapy with our choice. I highly reccomend this hotel to anyone.
We just returned home from a three week vacation in Italy. We stayed At the Luna for two nights and overall we enjoyed our visit. The grounds , as everyone notes, are delightful, with incredible views of the ocean.
Not a four star hotel
Who ever said that the Hotel Luna was lovely is WRONG. We just got back from there and we couldn't wait to leave the hotel. Fine the grounds to the hotel and the entrance are pretty, but the rooms look like a cheap motel room with some wooden antique furniture. The views are great also, but when we called management to tell them that we wanted to check out early NOT ONCE did they ask us what the problem was and how they can help us. The only thing that they were concerned about was how they weren't going to be able to sell the room to anyone else, and they were going to charge us even though we weren't going to stay there.
Hotel has Huge Potential but they need to renovate and get more customer friendly people to work there.
Our Weekend Getaway
This was my first time to ever visit Italy. I was taking art classes in Florence and my roommates and I were looking for somewhere to get away for the weekend. We had know idea where to stay when we got to Capri and the information desk sent us to Hotel Luna. I cannot begin to describe how beautiful and it was. The views from the balcony overlooking the sea were breathtaking. It was honestly one of most wonderful times of my life. I cannot wait until I have a family of my own that I can take to Capri and we will forsurely stay at Hotel Luna.
The people that worked there were very welcoming and nice.
The Luna is Lovely
We loved the Luna - the grounds are gorgeous - lots of flowers and beautiful landscapes. The views were specacular. There was nothing better than a cocktail on the terrace overlooking the sea. The service was lovely. Pool area quiet and mellow. Rooms were clean and nice.
Location was the best - walk virtually everywhere but away from the crowds. We would definitely return!
Hotel Luna was one of the highlights of our two-week holiday in Italy. Gorgeous views, friendly staff and a great private terrace made us wish we could stay longer (like forever) Would recommend without hesitation.
Beautiful and Peaceful Location
The hotel is in a wonderful location with beautfiul sea views near the beautiful Augustus gardens. Although only a short distance from the main square, hotel is very quiet and relaxing and what I consider one of the best locations on the Island. The staff was very friendly and very accommodating and I will definitely return to the Hotel Luna for a most relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
I've been to Europe many times and stayed in many fine hotels, but the Hotel Luna on Capri stands head and shoulders above them all. My wife and I stayed there during our honeymoon, and the entire experience was like a wonderful dream. From the beautifully tiled room with a vine shaded balcony overlooking the sea, rocks, and gardens, to the wonderfully landscaped grounds and swimming pool, the Luna was exceptional in every respect. Just a hundred yards or so from town center, it is a perfect oasis of green and tranquility. Wish we were there right now. It's been a year, but it seems like just yesterday. We definitely will return to our Italian paradise someday soon.
