Getting wet in Corfu

Corfu was surprisingly warm today, around the mid 70s, which was warm enough for us to spend some time at the Aqualand water park. I've never been to a larger water park and we make is just in time before they closed for the winter. Me and my buddies played around until it began to get cool towards the late afternoon.

This morning we visited the ...

Hello Friends!!!

I'm torn between it being a relief and a disappointment that I now speak English freely among all the other English-speaking folks. (I'm on the cruise.) While there are over 40 countries represented by visitors, America absolutely took the cake by almost triple that of any other country. I also don't know whether I'm proud of that fact or embarrassed by it. You might say that I'm going through a patriotic self-crisis.

The cruise has been fan ...

... stumbled onto his knees and nearly projected them headfirst onto the brick path. It then proceeded to veer towards every tourist who was walking, attempting to crush them against the rock wall. Much arm waving and untranslatable obscenities did nothing to deter this donkey from his mission. Between tourists he would attempt to wipe Ryan and Chris from his back by rubbing against every telephone pole. From several zig zags up the hill all Robyn could ...

A great summer.

There is a town north of Corfu and it's really cool, but it's a village in some way.Though, I did visit the Corfu town and I must say it is AMAZING. All those fortresses and fancy resturants and bars were a total hit! Everybody was so relaxed, people aren't that stressed at all. I ...

... me, I dont really drink anymore and I just dont really feel like getting drunk like I use to. Apperently the pink palace is just full of young Americans spring break style, and I just dont think I could hack it. One of the stories the boys told me was that an American girl asked them why it was always sunny in Australia and they told her its because it is controlled by cranes and they are able to move the island towards the sun so that it is always sunny. This ...

A piece of advice for anyone planning on travelling in Albania - don't take the trains! Although not the worst train I've ever been on (that honour is reserved for the P-trains in Romania), it comes a close second and I was on it for a lot longer than was comfortable. The whole train experience starts when attempting to buy tickets. The Albanians don't seem to understand the concept of queueing. Even when two of us with enormous backpacks were standing right at the ...

.... that's Vlore. Life on the Albanian Riviera is very pleasant indeed, and you wouldn't imagine that just a few years ago this place was the centre of the Albanian Mafia's operations. Actually, given the large number of high-rise hotels being built and relatively small number of tourists then these could potentially just be money laundering schemes. And the quantity of brand new Mercedes on the pot-holed ...

... buses as they sought to avoid going over the rocky, steep cliff road. Albania was a communist country until 1991 and our buses were definitely from that era. The ancient ruins were overrun by thousands of high school kids who were on vacation and were dressed very "stylely" with high heels and all. Butrinti was originally built in 200 BC by the Greeks and then taken over by the Romans who added to the structures (pubic baths, etc). The ancient church as ...

Villa life on a burning island

... Police officer sat sleepily in a perspex booth. She was a young woman, her hair and makeup done up immaculately and her long nails painted. Aside from the brown uniform and in another city I might have assumed she was something other than a police woman. She spoke good English but, no, she had never heard of the Hotel Hermes and expressed doubt that I would find anywhere to stay at this time. I asked her where I could stay and she just shrugged; a gesture I was ...
