... I'm quite happy. Plus, I've been fighting this stupid head cold so I've enjoyed the excuse to stock up on soup (har har, stock up on soup). Oh, which reminds me. Because of the crazy swine flu they are taking all sorts of precautions, which is good. When we first arrived to check in we had to fill out a health survey. Because I had in fact been sneezing and coughing and had a runny nose and sore throat I had to check yes on the form. I was certain they were going to kick me ...
Corfu Town, Ionian Islands, Greece josiezimWe had a whole day of just hanging around Corfu town so we went for some breakfast and then picked up our laundry and popped back to the hotel to pack our bags. The weather is not so good today raining and a little cloudy so for the most part of the day we just mooched about shops and did some stuff on the internet. The batteries in the camera keep going so as soon as we can get some good ones then we will post the pictures.
As it was the friday before the ...
Packed our stuff up so happy to leave this hole and went to pay and asked idiot Brian could we have a lift into Corfu town he said that there was no way that he could go until after 12 it was 9am but happily the owner of the hostel was popping in so he gave us a lift there. Oh thank god we got away from there it was making me miserable and ill, Ian found us a little hotel right on the front of Corfu town and its amazing really clean and the first thing ...
Corfu Town, Ionian Islands, Greece traceybelle... in Corfu town where there is a little bit more going on. He was ok with it and we decided to just get on with the day. Ian wanted to walk up to a little villiage at the top of the hill and after Meteroa I said he was welcome to go on his own and I would go to the beach and wait for him.
The beach was amazing it was so hot the hottest day and I just kept reading my book and going for a swim in the sea it was so calm and you could see ...
... in it a terrace with dirty tables and stuff Ian picked this place because it included breakfast and dinner and he thought that after all this time together we might like to talk to some other travellers. The room Brian took us to had the same sheets on that someone the night before had used and as you cant flush toilet papers down the loo the bin also had lots of used toilet paper in it. The only redeeming feature ...
Corfu, Ionian Islands, Greece traceybelleJust a quick note. Spent a fabulous day on Corfu. This is what you think of when you think of Greece. We rented motor bikes and crusied the island. I will update more when we get back to Rome on Tuesday.
Love to all,
Davo and Janet
Still grey in a.m. Decide to move on: thinking of visiting Corfu, if weather good. En route to ferry port, call in on Dodoni - oldest site of religious worship in Greece. Miraculously, another Euro-free day!Oracle pre-dates Delphi; devoted to both Gaiaa & Zeus. Impressive C3rd BC amphitheatre - capacity of 17,000 - & whole setting very dramatic. Remote, though: you ...
Igoumenitsa, Epirus, Greece marcdolav... soaking wet everywhere we went and the power was out in the whole village. So everyone gathered in the common areas with candles and flashlights to play games. The Pink Palace is amazing because you are surrounded by the same people for a period of time so you really get to know people. Today we are preparing to leave Corfu. We are so sad because we love it here, but on the bright side...WE GO TO ITALY!!! -Until next time!-
Corfu, Ionian Islands, Greece abristol... like those cause youre just free to do whatever. We had one more cool beach stop, but other then that just sea ones. We docked at a small fishing town just outside the city of Corfu (a bit off the schedule, but it was ok). We had anotehr traditional Greek meal where I ate calamari, greek salad, and tsatziki dip. My friend there got the whole snapper and bet me a beer to eat the entire head: eyes, brains, and everything. I did it, and it ...

August 23rd - Corfu, Greece
It was almost midnight by the time we stumbled into the sweaty throng on the dock at Corfu Town. Hundreds of people buzzed around in the excitement of the scene, many of them backpackers. Despite the hour, the air was muggy and close and it was unpleasant to carry the gear. Michelle sat on a concrete pedestal beside a group of high-spirited Italians while I set off to find somewhere for us to stay.
I had one place in ...
