Little Corn Island, Corn Islands, Nicaragua, 505-820-2242
Erik's entry: The panga ride to Little Corn was good fun. The boat is small, able to hold about 15 passengers and a bit of cargo. It's open to the elements, and prone to leaps across the waves, throwing you off of the hard bench seat, and then slamming you back down harder than you might wish. It was a nice day, though, and we enjoyed the 40 minute ride. Once at Little Corn, we were met at the dock by a welcoming committee comprised of staff from the dive shops and hotels, with handy brochure...
Little Corn Island, Nicaragua erikandtalorAh, this is better. Little Corn is cleaner (not saying much) and nicer than Big Corn. Wish we knew that before I booked 4 days on Big and 3 on Little. They don't really have any nice places to stay, but everything else is better- especially the food. The boat ride from big corn would be harrowing for all but the most seasoned travelers. Carrie and I were smiling of course, but some blond gringo on the same row as me had her head between her knees and white knuckled the seat in front of her t...
Little Corn Island, Nicaragua woody0198... the best meal of the trip so far.. The night was halloween so after dinner and a fair bit of Ron we headed to the Halloween Party with the poor outfits we had managed to muster together and had a very amusing evening. I think the photos give some idea..

The following day was Jerrod's birthday so having spent the whole day in bed we ventured up the beach to a local lady that had prepared a fish stew for us. It was pretty fishy but a great setting and ...
Little Corn Island, Corn Islands, Nicaragua evs1210... aboard the tiniest little plane I've ever been on. Although there was space for a few more, there were seven passengers and two pilots on the first leg of the journey. After dropping off a few in Bluefields, we flew back to Managua with a grand total of six people in the plane. I will say, though -- all the runways were paved. There was no grass involved in the landings or takeoffs, which was a relief.
Little Corn Island, Corn Islands, Nicaragua kimandjohn... night in big corn. On inspection of one place we changed our minds and walked back to the dock, jumped on the lancha that departed at 4:30 pm to Little Corn.

Little Corn.

Little Corn surpassed all expectations and apart from torrential rain on the first night (it is the rainy/ hurricane season) we had awesome weather for the whole 6 days and nights we were there. The islands are expensive for central America with breakfasts averaging $5 per ...
Corn Islands, Región Autónoma Atlántico Sur, Nicaragua hess... circus.

The lancha to Little Corn was basically small boat with two enormous outboard motors. Under calm conditions, i imagine it would jet between the islands. Under these conditions, it didn´t slow down and the waves became like jump ramps. With a tarp over us to keep the spray off, we couldn´t see them coming, but you could feel the boat take off and that freefall feeling in the stomach as the boat fell ...
Little Corn Island, Nicaragua brabzzz... of days? Another topic came up at the place I was staying - someone asked Alan if he owned the land or if he wanted to purchase it. He looked really confused, and just asked why he needs to own land? "I sleep good at night, no?" Long story short, the people are incredibly chill here. So, the first 4 days here were my diving course. I took it with Reza, one of the Swedish guys that I was sharing a cabin with. We had classroom sessions with videos and some quizzes spread out over ...
Little Corn Island, Nicaragua pmckenna... throughout the island in the morning and then a fishing trip in the afternoon. I got suited up on a horse much too small for me. Nicole had a blast, even though we got absolutely drenched half way through. Fishing didn't go as well. The sun came out but they weren't biting. Not even the local fisherman caught anything. There were plenty of fish however, because the guys who went spear fishing with us caught a ...
Little Corn Island, Nicaragua matthewnicole08... luckily, there they were! We saw two, one about 6ft and the other 8ft. They actually were not too big. The pictures are of the 6 footer. It was fun, and they swam with us for about 10-15 minutes. The other group were just learning to dive. Talk about a great certification dive, although they were a little nervous. The sharks were not aggressive at all, and it was just an amazing experience. I felt as though my trip to little ...
Little Corn Island, Nicaragua gregellis72... cash or spìn you some line about how one place is better than the next. When we arrived at the three ajacent spots we wanted to stay, we found out they were all booked. Amy rushed around finding somewhere and poucing on backpackers if they looked as if they were leaving. Her persistence paid off and we got a room at Graces. As promised the seas were blue, and the sand white. Coco beach was buffeted by a constant refreshing breeze, which compared to the other ...
