... s there from the North Africa campaign. It housed up to 3000 prisoners It is now a museum. We arrived back at the hotel about 4pm and rested till about 6 when Derek and I went shopping. The locals were out strolling as usual. We met the group at 6.30 for an early dinner at a bar as no restaurants open till after 8pm and some wanted an early night for packing. We visited the chapel of the monastery first which was built as a Cistercian monastery in the late 11th century. We learnt about a holy man who lived in a cave near Sulmona, not far from here, and became Pope Celestine V in 1294. His ...

... It was very interesting through beautiful valleys with villages on hilltops. The road would have cost a fortune to build as it was mostly through tunnels or over bridges. We stopped for lunch at a truck stop type place and ate panini we had bought in a gorgeous little deli in Sorrento. The weather remains warm and sunny, 25 degrees most days.
We are staying in a monastery called Monestero-Fortezza Di Santo Spirito D'Ocre above the town ...
