Day 3 & the 3 musketeers set off for the last day of our bike trip. A great downhill ride with magnificent views once again. The tour took us right through the centre of town before reaching our hotel at about 2.30 pm. Loved it but glad to be off the bike! Enjoyed a well deserved bottle of prosecco to celebrate the challenge of our ride. So proud of us all Tomorrow sees us headed for Torino (Turin) via fast train from Firenze (Florence) to start our cheese tour on ...

A chilled wine in hand, a decent view of the sunset and watching the stars come out it seemed the 100's of Italian bathers were a world away. The Palio is run twice a year, once in July and once in August. There are 17 districts in Siena and each one has its own colours (flag), and it's own ...

... s problem" per 3 older Italian gentleman said to us at the corner petrol station. So, we backtrack to Greve, to Castellina to Poggobonsi to Florence. Guess I should also mention the U-turn across 6 lanes Granetelli made 20 yards before entering the AutoStrada entrance that caused serious blood pressure readings on these 4 occupants! We cruised home exhausted, exhilarated and satisfied of a job well done navigating Italian ...

... we stopped for lunch at an agriturismo run by Paola and Geraldo. The first course was lasagna, not the tomato and mozzarella type you are familiar with but one made with bechamel and meat sauce with very thin noodles. It was incredible. Next came a chicken dish in a kind of creamy sauce with lemon in it. The chicken breast was melt-in-your-mouth tender. It was accompanied by a green salad made with a type of tender green Paola said was Valeriana. It looked and ...
