The second of the three days of the fête. Today is centred on the Bassin where there will be raft races jousting on the water and other sights. Huge crowds wander through the town where huge marquees are set up down the roads for eating and drinking. Lots of stalls selling food, drink, crafts and trinkets. Music everywhere. And to end the day, a meal with ...

... chunky than Agnetha ever was, came on at 11.15. A reasonable set and then up to the place de Verdun to see the love Beatles tribute band. Wow! What a night? Got back at 2.30 with Simon successfully completing a breath test. Susie was the life and soul of the group. Her twisting was something to behold! You know what I mean ...

So we dumped grey and black water, filled up with fresh and decided to go back to Fanjeaux where we knew there was shade. All we had to hope was that there would be space as it is a small aire. The weather continues to get hotter! After yesterday's reliance on Snooper, I looked carefully at the map before we left. We followed the red tourist train along the valley. We passed by Puilaurens, yet another Cathar castle perched high on the mountain ridge. How did they build them? We found the aire in Quillan easily and having parked, we only had a couple of km to go to get our shopping. Smartie is sooo ...

... we were extremely lucky in Saint Savin to get one fine day when we ventured to Gavarnie to do the circuit walk. The views were breathtaking because we were much closer to the snow capped peaks in an ampitheatre. Our 5 hour walk involved a climb of 400 metres punctuated by thunder like noises as the snow drifts cascaded down, huge waterfalls , a timid squirrel and the most wonderful scerery along the vivid green valley. The air was so clear and the icy water ...
