    ... salad and a vegetable and cheese pastry, with fruit, bread and cheese. Just right! On the way back to La Fage we stopped about 3 pm in Mirapoix for me to use an ATM - and to get fresh bread for dinner. The bakery was closed until 3:30 so we had a drink while waiting - coffee for Nancy and Coke Light for me, my first in France!     ... light weight long pants. They will also be useful for the rest of my time in France and then on to Greece. Of course I needed to buy a scarf as well. :-). After checking out the whole market we settled down for a pizza lunch and people watching! The pizza was delicious - thin crispy crust with onions, mozzarella, lardons and cream. Yum!     ... and leisurely meal we drove back to La Fage via Villasavery for the squash fete.    There was quite a selection of squash of all shapes and sizes as well as in edible ones for decoration.  Carl bought a kuri one for soup.   After our multi course meal all we needed for dinner was a selection of cheese and crackers and fruit.  And off to read and to bed - another wonderful ...

    ... we were extremely lucky in Saint Savin to get one fine day when we ventured to Gavarnie to do the circuit walk. The views were breathtaking because we were much closer to the snow capped peaks in an ampitheatre. Our 5 hour walk involved a climb of 400 metres punctuated by thunder like noises as the snow drifts cascaded down, huge waterfalls , a timid squirrel and the most wonderful scerery along the vivid green valley.
