From our pre-trip research I knew that this would happen occasionally as we changed countries, but hadn't considered it until this point.     The drive out of Sanok was much better than the drive in and we got to Rzeszow with a few hours to spend looking around before heading off to the airport. Rzeszow is quite a big city, much bigger than Sanok, which is more of a village. We had a look about and then got the bus to the linia jednorazowy airport.
