    ... was starting to feel the pinch. She hit the wall at 39km - only 1km short of yesterday. To give her due, she did very well under trying circumstances. In one section, the traffic was heavy and there were plenty of big trucks. That didn't help when you are tired and hot. We had a little rest under a nice shady tree.

    ... the museum staff who took pity on our inability to read the Italian descriptions of the exhibits and gave us a personal tour. The finds from the Greeks, Etruscan, Celts and Romans were amazing. The photos are just some on the wonderful exhibits.     Today we had a lazy morning hanging out in the grounds of the BNB. We had a swim, the kids had a spa and Nick and I caught up on some reading. Oh and it was my birthday! I got coffee and toast in bed! And some gorgeous home made cards from the kids. After a slow start we took some rickety old bikes into town.     On Friday, we traveled by train and walked in the rain.

    Even precipitation is lovely in Italy.

    At the train station, I discovered a vending machine that provided espresso in a tiny plastic cup. It was perfect. Espresso this good shouldn't come from vending machines. Frankly, espresso of any kind shouldn't come from vending machines. Heaven, I'm sure, will be lined ...
