Bulgaria Continued

... into my tent. I had theorized completely without evidence that the Bulgarian mafia made their money smuggling heroin across the Black sea from Asia. With my assumptions still fresh in my mind, I left my shelter to urinate and could hear the chug of an outboard engine in the sea, suddenly a flash of light caught my eye and then another and another. My imagination took over and I was abruptly ...

Coffee machines and fast friends

... hilarious. This served as another blatant reminder that I am not in America, a country built on convenience. Process goes something like this: Find the one company still open at 6pm ( 18:00) Now the company must locate the one car that they have available. Give a good sum of cash to reserve The car - then wait at a gas station with really good coffee for the next three hours for some one to show up with the car. It ...

Mesec i po dana - Predstavnik

... osim sto sam usavrsio bugarski jezik. Posla nema, samim tim nema ni para. Ok, onda sam odlucio da iskoristim slobodno vreme... Izlasci, upoznavanje... nesto sto nikada ne moze da dosadi. Plaza, more, Sunce i zabava. Odlican nacin da se iskoristi slobodno vreme.

Napokon da se zavrsilo ovo leto. Postalo je malo monotono...
Do sledeceg putovanja...

Plovdiv to Nessebar (on the Black Sea)

... Palace. Nessebar as well as being picturesque is Souvenir Central with a variety of shops and cafes lining the pretty streets. It is located on a small rocky isthmus in the Black Sea , is a UNESCO World Heritage site and dates back to 3000 BC. We love it here and spent the afternoon wandering about enjoying the town. Later we had dinner on our balcony, accompanied by Bulgarian Beer and Bulgarian Wine, and then went for a walk along the waterside in the cool of the evening.

A short day

... of the centre and there's a long open street for walking down with bars and cafe's on either side. And a lot of people are out walking. To cap it off the pavements have been leveled so you can walk without tripping. Excellent. Back at the hotel there's lightening on the horizon; its the classic ingredients for a storm. I think another day here would be good but I'm not sure there's space. I'm also thinking about making Turkey my last cycling country.

Bulgaria

... To reach Nessebar I took the small ferry that runs from Sunny Beach. It was cold and very windy day and the sea was really choppy for the short crossing over to Nessebar but was fun nonetheless. After disembarking the ferry you are immediatley faced with ruins of the old city walls, a favourite with tourists. Walking through the town is like being in a Swiss Alpine village with lots of small cobbled ...

Finally - our little town!

... in Valiko Taverno. Just after we had finished out meal the band came out and started playing up in the other section and not long after the dancers came out. We thought 'we have to be a part of this' so we told our waiter we were moving and just did as we pleased again. The dancing was amazing and plenty of crown participation including old twinkle toes Hendrick. We ordered another bottle of wine to settle in for the evening but the dancing and ...

MTV Spirt of Burgas

Burgas was hosting the first ever MTV Spirit of Burgas festival with Groove Armada, Koseen, Ministry of Sound etc. It was situated on the beach, had an electric atmosphere, great music and was bouncing! All for £20 as well. If you happen to see the festival on MTV you will probably see me & G. Aside from the festival there is nothing happening in Burgas.

Sunny Beach - Blackpool in Bulgaria

Sunny Beach is a holiday resort on the coast of Bulgaria. It's basically sunbathe all day and booze all night. Lots of British, Sweedish, Norwegian, Dutch and German tourists. Not the nicest place in the world but good for a chill out and a few nights on the lash.

Off Roadýng.. Velkas to Malko Tarnovo

Burgas to Malko Tarnovo (95km) Best bit: Huge national park (1200km of it) Worst bit: hot! Looking at my map I had two choices on how to reach the Turkish border today (a) via a big red road (b) via small windy village backroads Red roads in Bulgaria are invariably mini motorways. The associated terror levels with these (for a self-confessed softie like myself) are much like a ride at Alton Towers with no safety belts. The ...
