... far from the cotton plantations, but I kept walking. After a bit, I was more interested, as they were becoming more prevalent and on different kinds of stalk. After closer inspection, these buds of white, which were literally hundreds to a plant, were snails. It was remarkable to see that many, so far from heavy precipitation. Thousands of them could be seen in a few ...

Today, I went on a short hike to the neighboring beach that is only accessible by boat or foot. The beach has red sand which is different. sorry to leave Crete, but we were also looking
forward to the last stages of our journey and to being back home.

A fantastic walk in the White Mountains

... was waiting at the town and we set off to cross Crete from south to north, which means going up and down and round and round, as it is across the grain of the country. Fortunately we had more or less got used to Cretan roads by this time. The worst part was driving back from Chania dropping off people on the way, in reverse order, and it was about 9 o’clock when we finally reached Kolimbari, very tired but very pleased to have achieved the walk and seen such a wonderful ...
