Well from the outside of city there is a breathtaking view of the upper town but once you are in it I woudn't say the same. Still there is plenty to see wandering around the streets and lots of lovely churches to explore. But it's definitely not the best medieval town in Italy.

... at a restaurant in town and headed back to the hostel. Although we were in a 6 person room, it was only the two of us. However, it was very cold so we piled on the blankets and went to sleep.

gates and another bar or two. At the end of a lovely day, we hiked
back to the hotel and sat on the roof top watching the sun drop in
the sky while drinking Prosecco. Our evening meal was in the pizza
restaurant near the hotel again. Unfortunately the friendly waiter
was not there again.
Having waited ten years
to see the Italian lakes, we were not disappointed. What a wonderful
place.

With loads to pack into
the day, we set off early to catch the first fast ferry of the day.
In fact, we were early for breakfast and had to wait for the
restaurant to open. The walk into town had been described as two
kilometres, however as the time went by and it looked increasingly as
though we would not make the sailing time, it was obvious that it was
over two miles from the hotel. Our first impression of Sirmione as
we arrived at the medieval city gates ...

Next stop was Lake
Iseo, a small cousin with a very different atmosphere again. A quiet
backwater seemingly only known to the locals. This was a place
where you could really relax away from the crowds. You could
almost see the entire lake from our position, which took some of the
mystery away perhaps but did not detract from the spectacle. ...
