... ticked this off his bucket list too. He has seen, photographed and laid on the grass and admired the Tower. My man didn't get to climb up the tower as the booking times were to far in advance and we would have to be gone by then.
At no time did the swiss army knife actually get to make contact with the tower for which I am relieved. What an interesting international incident that would have been!

Needed to divest ourselves of everything but our camera to climb the Tower.Those who weren't aware of this rule were sent back, no questions asked. A secure locker was provided at the edge of the piazza for those with tickets to climb ...

... to the upper level. It is very open but you just had to keep quiet. I was looking over the top rail ,taking photos and just taking it all in, when my glasses fell off my head. Oh no I thought they are going to land on someone and take out an eye, shatter or break, or at least land on someone's head and injure them. Waited for the ghastly sound and eventually heard a clunk. ... into 2000 and now groups of 40 people at a time can climb up the inside – this is done at half hour intervals – so we brought our tickets for the 1.30pm slot and headed off to check out the souvenirs and get some lunch.

... I was dehydrated. Not sure but all I know is that it was one of the hardest trails I have hiked. Maybe I should have taken the tourist office's warnings about it being strenuous more seriously, thank God I brought tennis shoes! The tour ended with a boat ride along the coast back from the last village of the five to the first, and by that time we were all exhausted from a day full of hiking and so ready to get back onto the bus. I think I slept the entire ride home. ...
