... fairgrounds to check things out.<br><br>In Münsterplatz we rode the big wheel and got a nice view of the city lights reflecting on the Rhine. After our ride we just hung around a stall selling gluwein, drinking and chatting. Everywhere we went was crowded with people in good spirits and children full of sugar and excitement. Herbstmesse is a fun time in Basel!

... a bit higher up. Then we caught a gondola and hiked back down for 2.5 hrs. We had almost perfect weather (it was a little hazy) but there were heaps of para-gliders, cows with bells etc.. We were going to go via Lucern on the way home, but we would have got home too late, so we headed back to Basel to find dinner ready for us &#8211; I love staying with people!!! Spent the rest of the evening looking for work and then had an early night before heading to Gossau in the morning!

... trunk and backseat, we said goodbye. It was a bit sad for me but mom had a really hard time. This is somewhat amusing as when I moved here, she didn't shed a tear when I left, but cried like a baby when Lincoln left later when my sister came to visit.<br><br>Anyway, finally they got in the car and I joined the man by the exit so we could wave them along the way. ... with costumes and masks and bands. Damn near froze standing still for that long, but I had a good vantage point for the pictures so I wasn't going to move for fear of losing my spot. After the parade we got stuck into the gluhwein and some hot food then went back to the hostel for a hot shower, then out for dinner. We went to a local brewery that had a restaurant incorporated and had such a good time that we made it a regular while we were there.

I got onto the train to Koln after buying the book 'Around the World in 80 Days' by Jules Verne, which has really been the perfect travel book. Julia picked me up at the train station and of course it was raining, starting off the visit to some not so good luck, but still a great time!

We're still not sure what's going to happen to it in the long-run, but it's been a pain enough to warrant a mention of its future at some point!
