... The views of Nihonmatsu and the surrounding mountains are beautiful. On return to Nihonmatsu, We paid a quick visit to the Nihonmatsu shrine. It is not as spectacular as those at the major tourist spots but it was peaceful and a nice place to visit. It also had many steps - good training for the streets of Paris and the Cinque Terra. ... out the women's bath. After breakfast we took a drive to Ainu, a city in the west of the prefecture, were we visited Tsuruga-Jo. This is a reconstructed castle that was nearly destroyed in the civil war in 1832. The castle is now a museum and tells the story of the people who lived there, including a young woman who had the Samurai spirit and cut her pair short to join the fighting when the castle was besieged by the emperor's army. She survived the battle and ...

... trees in full blossom. It was a stunning sight, with the lighting from a setting sun and wind blowing the blossom for the trees, link pink confetti. I took lots of photos. Once settled into our room we changed and went to the bath area. Jude will have to fill you in on her experience there. I went of to the blocks room, had a shower and went outside to the pools. It is awesome lying back in a ...
