... ahead in the guidebook sometimes. After 4 months on the road, I don't always get to it. We couldn't decide on our next city or even country and planned to head to Albania. But after we talked to the guys at the hostel in Kotor, they recommended this mountain village. It's on the train line and should be beautiful this time of year if they get a blanket of snow.

After ascending this side valley for perhaps 3 km amid the colourful foliage of the season, we reached another so-called Blue Eye (Syri i kalter). I told him that I was no millionaire and that it was clearly a misunderstanding and finally he agreed to give it back. Only he didn't have all of it as he had had to buy petrol in the meantime. He gave back 20 thousand but promised to take us to Shkoder at 5 next morning. Then he invited me for a beer and returned to his ...

... seem to have a serious aversion to personal safety.

My theory still kind of holds true: The driver was gruff, yet stopped for us to take photos of interesting things we wouldn't have otherwise known about. He drove scarily, yet he seemed to be on the ball somewhat. He did however drive pretty much on the wrong side of the road the whole way back home unless someone was coming in the opposite direction in which case he swerved back into our lane at the last ...
