... like a ski lift) up the hill to the Germania monument, built in 1871 for the reunification of Germany then walked the 5kms down the hill. Had a drink, then went shopping & back to the boat for lunch.
The next part of he Rhine is known for its castles, they were amazing, the cloud then started to move in so went inside for coffee & cake, like we needed more food.

After lunch we drove to Bad Salzig for a Rhine river cruise on the Loralie Star to Mainz and saw many castles and villages on both sides of the river. The scenery was picturesque and a good snapshot of the traditional past. It so happened that there was a special cycling event along the river sides as well. ... The Austria Trend Hotel at approx 6pm. After unpacking, answering emails and showering I walked to a local resturant. The proprietor suggested that I not look at the menu as he could tell what I liked. I was game so I let him chose for me. He served me a mixed meat grill with a horseradish sauce, flat bread, onion and a capsicum chutney. It was delicious and I washed it down with a Sarajavo Premium ...
As we headed off to Germany it was a long, adventurous, and exciting journey. It wasn't exciting because the seats were comfortable, because they weren't and the space was tight. Not because the airline fed me two delicious meals, or that I got to watch movies the entire time. Those things were decently a plus, but what made this experience so great was how I got to watch closely, from my window seat, all the different lit up countries I passed over. ...
