... was set up for us and we were able to listen to the surf in the background. Lovely! Decision time as we perused the menu. Prawn sizzlers sounded really nice. Now I do not know what any of you imagine when you think of a sizzler, but we think skewer, grill, drool!

How wrong that assumption was. Instead there was a cabbage leaf, yes a cabbage leaf, with this goopy sauce in the center with a whopping 6 prawns. For the side, finger chips, french fries, ...

... many more travellers and lots more rubbish everywhere. The beaches were filled with bars, sun lounges and parasols, and a constant stream of people trying to get you to buy things. Anjuna is also a popular tourist destination for young Indian men, who have no qualms with staring at young woman, let alone those in bikinis. It's also one of the only places in India where drinking is socially acceptable, so there were lots of drunk young boys ...

We crossed a couple of rivers which looked beautiful. One had a huge group of women in their brightly coloured saris doing all their ...

    Getting into Indian cinema

... a bit art deco in style but like an old fashioned theatre inside. Lots of gold leaf, decorative sculptures and ornate swirls and patterns. The main foyer is really grand with huge vase like sculptures in alcoves that repeat round the whole room near the room. The ceiling is like waves of plaster. They have the usual popcorn, chocolate and fizzy drinks on sale with the addition of Indian snacks. Seats are sold at three levels at this ...

... visit by the Queen of Kabbalah herself, Madonna.
Shanti is the perfect word for our trip. We were all so chilled out, really able to relax and rejuvenate. After going (almost) nonstop from China and right into life and work in Delhi, I think it was much needed. And even though we're in the heart of the program I'm working on (please Like CARE India on Facebook!), I'm off again this weekend for Amritsar and the famous Golden Temple.

    Until next time,
