... the headboards are old pallets. In fact, all the furniture looks like it’s put together from scrap lumber. And the room is huge and tiled with 2 twin beds and another twin made up as a divan. The hotel is 125’ above the sea, and there is an elevator to take you down (and back up).

We turned off for the old city of Aspendos. The first thing you come to is the bridge across what was a pretty fast flowing river. I guess the snow is melting fast and the water looked the pale green colour of very cold melted glaciers. (We know we have tried to swim in them in Kazakhstan. A.) The bridge is a recent 12C version of the Roman bridge which stood there.

The city is set at the top of a couple of mountain passes and was apparently a tough fortress since Alexander the Great gave up besieging the place in 333BC and moved on. ... there is a new tram which runs out to the Otogar) we headed back to Kaleiçi to find the old covered bazaar. We found it but it was a disappointment after the wonderful Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. Walked out of Kaleiçi I to the non tourist part of town to a recommended Pide and cafeteria restaurant. Food was great and cheap. We both had dinner for 19 TL (about $10)- can't beat ...

Today we explored Antalya. After breakfast we set forth on the bus to the city. It's only 4km along the coast but we decided to leave the car and grab a bus (2TL) which took us directly to our first stop; the museum. Antalya Museum is unbelievable.
