... because most presentations back home have only the people presenting talking with maybe a question-answer panel at the end. Here, presenting is much more interactive, which I actually find to be not only easier on the presenters, but also helps to learn it more and create discussions. If only I could do that back at Minnesota...

So, we'll see how PBL goes, but so far, I think it's going pretty well and I like it. That might change come exam time though...

Prince Carnaval

In Maastricht, Carnaval is a huge celebration. Originally, it began as a Catholic celebration right before Lent begins. Now, it's just one big, three-day-long party. People here begin preparing for the event in November, even though Carnaval is the first weekend in March. Suffice it to say, it's a big deal here in Maastricht and I'm so excited to be able to participate. We even get an entire week off of school for it.

... pictures and ended up eating at McDonalds, which was glorious. American food is so wonderful. I'm not a huge fan of Dutch food so far, so this was a welcome relief. Also, McDonalds took my Visa which was super exciting for me, even though my meal was $9.00 (holy expensive meal at McDonalds!).

Most of this week has been centered around events called "Arrival Week." They have been organized by a group geared toward exchange students called Erasmus Student Network (ESN). Apparently they have chapters in pretty much every major university in Europe.
