So we quickly worked through the sign-up ritual (composing a lovely poem in five languages - Mandarin, Dutch, Latvian, Polish, Russian) and skipped most of the silly 'get-to-know-each-other'-exercises in order to munch down some tasteless beetroot soup. Sophie and I decided we'd rather spend the night in the car than on the floor in one of the cramped cabins.
